It's quite heavily suggested that the culprits (who I think would be regarded today as being broadly on the right side of history) are not being handed over to a British prison but are going to be tortured and killed by the Prince, just because they embarrassed him - and yet Poirot doesn't seem to have any real qualms about doing it. I know propping up friendly despots was a big part of the history of the late British Empire, but in an episode that leans so heavily on comic relief, it does make it all feel a bit more disturbing than I imagine was intended. It would be like if there was an episode of Columbo where Columbo's job was helping General Pinochet to expose and crush elements of the resistance.JonniGibshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06508913145693952246noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8555477445321605035.post-18319445667481112372018-08-12T17:47:03.005+02:002018-08-12T17:47:03.005+02:00I always felt the impression that Stephanie Cole w...I always felt the impression that Stephanie Cole was a better actress to star as Ariadne Oliver rather than Zoe Wanamaker. I know Cole played Mrs. Oliver in a BBC radio production of Halloween Party and some other title that escapes my mind at the moment. Zoe Wanamaker just didn't fit the physical description that Christie describes in the stories. He lifts her arm and reveals the ruby, which he "surreptitiously" takes. He pretended that he checked her pulse while actually stealing the ruby (again), and to cover his theft and give time to escape, says he felt nothing and volunteers to get the police. I don't understand why they would exclude the tourniquet reference. They could easily have cut parts of the car chase (which, in any case, is completely unnecessary).Eirikhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06440717274193966716noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8555477445321605035.post-76183289597725854152015-05-13T21:43:50.657+02:002015-05-13T21:43:50.657+02:00The difficulty of covering the entire countryside ...The difficulty of covering the entire countryside for the chase scene seems to have deprived the episode of snow, which is such an important element of the original story.

The adaptation doesn't explain how Desmond was unable to feel Bridget's pulse.
